Dads' Space

www.dads-space.com is a new website for fathers looking for extra support and advice about raising their children. Dads' Space is part of the Parent Know-How initiative through the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to improve the provision of support for parents. Through Dads' Space, fathers can access no nonsense advice and information based on other fathers' experiences and up-to-date research. The site also addresses more complex family matters including domestic abuse, divorce and post separation parenting.

FamilyLine Surrey

FamilyLine Surrey is a confidential helpline for any member of a Surrey family. No problem is too big or small. Its mission is to support people caring for children, alleviate stress and reduce incidences of abuse and neglect by enabling families to harness their own strengths to deal with their problems.

Family Links

Family Links is a registered charity promoting emotional literacy, nurturing and relationship skills in families, schools and communities. Available for children and young people in schools, and for parents in the community, Family Links' Nurturing Programme helps people understand and manage feelings and behaviour. The Parenting Puzzle is Family Links' guidebook through the Nurturing Programme for parents and professionals. The guidebook encourages parents and carers to enjoy bringing up children and to get the best out of family life.

Home-Start

Home-Start has been offering services in Surrey Heath since 1989, giving support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children. Home-Start is a unique service. It recruits and trains volunteers, who are usually parents themselves, to visit families with at least one child under five, at home, and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support.

Partnership with Parents

Partnership with Parents (PwP) provides information, advice and support to parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) at all stages of their child's school life, from pre-school early diagnosis through to school-leaving age at 16 or 19, and for those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to age 25. Services include a confidential helpline for parents, verbal and written information, help to complete forms and understand complex documents and reports, information sessions and conferences for parents' groups, advocacy and mediation.

Sure Start

Sure Start is a government programme which aims to achieve better outcomes for children, parents and communities by increasing the availability of childcare for all children, improving health and emotional development for young children, and supporting parents in their aspirations towards employment.

Surrey Family Learning

Family Learning encourages adults to learn for their own personal development. The programmes are designed to support parents/carers to brush up their own Maths, English and Language skills, to benefit themselves and their children, and maybe gain a National Qualification. Family Learning programmes are carried out in both school and outreach venues across Surrey.

Surrey Heath Confederation of Schools

The Surrey Heath Confederation of Schools is made up of 31 schools in Surrey Heath, including three secondary schools and two schools for pupils with special educational needs. The schools and partner agencies are working together to improve outcomes for all children and young people aged five to 16 though the provision of 'Extended Services'. The Confederation is looking at a number of areas including childcare provision, study support activities, parenting support, family learning and adult education.

Surrey Parenting Education and Support

Surrey Parenting Education and Support runs various courses to support mums, dads and those caring for children and young people. Most programmes have a common purpose to: develop greater self-awareness in their role as a parent; develop positive discipline strategies; enhance parent-child communication making family life enjoyable and fun; and gain information on child and adolescent development.

Surrey Youth Justice Service

The Surrey Youth Justice Service works in partnership with Surrey County Council, Surrey Police, Surrey Probation and the NHS. Its aim is to prevent offending by young people aged 10 to 17. The service works with young people and their families to reduce the risks associated with offending behaviour, and to strengthen education, training, employment, sport, leisure pursuits. It supports school attendance of pupils who have committed offences and helps pupils be readmitted into Surrey schools after they have been excluded through committing offences.

Young Parents Group

This is a group for parents aged 20 years and under and is held at the Old Dean Advice Centre, 199 Upper College Ride, Camberley, on Wednesdays between 12.30pm and 2.30pm and Fridays between 10am and 12pm.
