Improving response times to low level disorder
In January 2009, a new Partnership-funded and branded transit van hit the borough's roads. Surrey Heath's community safety partners agreed to provide the liveried transit van to ensure a speedy response to low level disorder within the borough. The van is also available for use by local Safer Neighbourhood Teams as a 'mobile police surgery' for residents not easily able to get to their local panel meetings or surgeries.
The main benefit of the Partnership van will be a faster response time to reports of disorder within the borough, particularly alcohol-related offending both in and out of the town centre. However, the van will also allow us to better serve harder-to-reach communities in urban and rural areas - so that partners can identify their concerns and work with our partners to improve their quality of life.
The Partnership-branded van is equipped with a two-man cage in the rear for transporting offenders, a lighting system so it can be used in the evening and an awning so it can be set up at community events. It will be available for all partners to use, and features the Safer Surrey Heath Partnership, Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service logos.
Residents who would like the van to visit their area should contact their local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT). SNT contact details can be found on the Surrey Police website at www.surrey.police.co.uk Opens in a new window or telephone the Surrey Police non-emergency number on 0845 125 2222.
