The Mankind InitiativeImage of man

The Mankind Iniative is a voluntary charity (registered charity no. 1089547) providing help and support for male victims of domestic abuse. Mankind's national helpline is manned by trained volunteers who can give practical help and emotional support, as well as advice on housing rights, the legal system, relationships and separation - together with providing details and access to males refuges. They can also refer to its legal advisors for family court matters.

Mankind undertakes lectures, workshops and provides information in order to raise awareness of the social problems cased by domestic abuse within society. It works in partnership with all agencies to develop solutions for all victims.

Surrey Lifeline Project

The Surrey Lifeline Project is part of the Mankind Initiative, offering more localised help for Surrey residents. Callers can talk to a male domestic abuse survivor, who will listen and understand what they are going through from first-hand experience. Advice is also available as to courses of action that might be appropriate to their circumstances, including where to go with specific problems.

The helpline is usually manned between 7pm and 9pm, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. At other times, there is an answerphone. A message can be left and a call back arranged.
