Multi-use Community-run Building

Heatherside Youth Facility Option 1- Multi-use community-run buildingOption 1: Multi-use community-run building

This option is for a flexible and open plan, community-run space with capacity for up to 30 people. Its main function would be as a safe and secure recreational facility for young people to use outside school hours. It would be a low key, timber frame structure offering activities organised for, and by, young people and the wider community.

The building would include a single unisex disabled WC, office, open plan activity room, outdoor terrace with large doors at the back, small kitchen and storage.

The site identified for the building is the western edge of Heatherside Recreation Ground, close to the existing public toilets and car parking spaces at Martindale Avenue.

For this option to be viable, a community group would need to be formed to manage the building.
