Is the Partnership working?

Question

Is the Partnership working?

Answer

Yes; although much more work needs to be done - it is working very well.

Surrey Heath is one of the safest boroughs in England, with overall crime levels staying well below the national average. Generally, residents' satisfaction with the local area has risen in the last two years - from 79 to 87 per cent - according to the Surrey Heath Borough Council 2008 Place Survey.

Surrey Heath ranks third safest for overall levels of crime out of 11 boroughs in Surrey, which is the safest county in England. In the year to January 2009, Surrey Heath saw an overall crime reduction of 8.9 per cent to 3,498 recorded crimes, compared to the previous year.

In a recent survey, Surrey Heath was ranked No 1 in the county for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. In fact, the county's top three performing Safer Neighbourhoods were in Surrey Heath - with Lightwater, Heatherside & Parkside, and St Paul's ranked 1, 2 and 3 out of a total of 106 Safer Neighbourhoods. The Surrey Police survey also found a 72.3% satisfaction rate among Surrey Heath residents who had been a victim of crime in the past year - the highest of any borough in the county (Anti-social behaviour indicators: Rolling year to 31 October 2008, Surrey Police Strategic Support Directorate).
