Our Partnership Plan

Effective partnership working

Each year, the Partnership assesses the level of crime and disorder, including anti-social behaviour (ASB) that has been reported. Known as an annual strategic assessment, this takes into account information provided by all partners, and supporting organisations such as housing associations and outreach providers. As well as giving the Partnership a detailed picture about actual levels of crime and disorder in the borough, the strategic assessment provides information about residents' concerns. It provides the Partnership with intelligence and evidence of the priorities and problems that will inform effective and responsive delivery structures via the Partnership Action Plan (PAP).

The Partnership's 2009/10 strategic assessment was completed in March 2010 and clarified partners' community safety priorities for 2010/11. The Partnership was advised to focus on success areas to ensure that improvement was sustained, and to focus its activities during 2010/11 on the following:

  • Non-dwelling burglaries
  • Violence against the person
  • Alcohol-related crime
  • Arson
  • Traffic-related issues
  • Perceptions of crime and disorder
  • Road traffic casualties

A summary of the PAP 20010/11 is shown below.

Measuring improvements

It is important that you know how we're getting on with tackling our priorities - so we've come up with some targets. During 2010/11 we will:

  • Produce detailed Partnership Action Plans (PAPs) for each priority showing how we will be monitoring progress
  • Allocate money to help deliver the action plans
  • Regularly monitor and review the action plans via our Partnership Officer Group (POG)
  • Take action where targets may be underperforming
  • Publish an annual report on our website

What can you do?

We know that we can't achieve these aims without your help. There are many different ways you can support your community:

  • Have your views heard at the local committee meeting. To find your next meeting, click on the Surrey County Council Local Committee (Surrey Heath) webpage here Opens in a new window.
  • Go along to your Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) panel meetings to discuss any concerns. Visit www.surrey.police.uk and click on 'My neighbourhood' to find out when your next SNT meeting is.
  • Join Neighbourhood Watch (NW). Surrey Heath has over 250 NW schemes, and these are a great way to help your neighbourhood stay safe. To find out who your area coordinator is visit www.surreyheathnw.net Opens in a new window
  • Start a Community SpeedWatch to encourage safer driving. Telephone PC Mark Barry, Casualty Reduction Officer, on 01483 631787 for more information.
  • Telephone Surrey Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you have any information about a crime in your neighbourhood.

Community engagement

The Partnership welcomes feedback and input from the community at any time, to help officers review and update the Partnership Plan.
