Annual Strategic Assessment

Effective partnership working

Each year, CDRPs are required to prepare a strategic assessment to assist in the production, or revision, of a Partnership Plan. The purpose of the Annual Strategic Assessment is to identify those crime and disorder priorities the Partnership will focus on in the year ahead.

As part of the Partnership's first Annual Strategic Assessment, a Community Safety Data Analysis was undertaken in the summer of 2007 by independent research analysts, Geoff Berry Associates. This looked at levels and patterns of crime, disorder and substance misuse in Surrey Heath, and analysed why these changes may have occurred.

The 2007 analysis confirmed that Surrey Heath remains one of the safest places to live in the country - but that fear of crime is still an issue. For this reason, community reassurance remains a top priority for the Partnership - along with quality of life issues such as fly tipping, graffiti and dog fouling.

Other areas of concern highlighted in the 2007 data analysis were:

  • Alcohol related crime in Camberley town centre
  • Theft of vehicles, particular in the summer
  • Domestic burglary by 'out of town' offenders
  • Drug dealers coming into Surrey Heath
  • Traffic-related and road safety issues

A 2008 strategic assessment is currently underway, and the results will be known early in the new year.

Partnership Plan 2008-2011

The Partnership Plan priorities for 2008-2011are:

  • Providing speed reduction education
  • Reducing anti-social behaviour
  • Increasing reporting of domestic abuse
  • Maintaining low levels of litter
  • Reducing alcohol dependence

Community engagement

The Partnership invites feedback and input from the community to help it review and update the Partnership Plan.
